One More Time!

I started shooting again. The desire is as strong as ever and right now might be the time to get back into photography. I shoot around the Virginia Beach area at the beach and surrounding areas. I'm using my Canon 35mm Film plus a Canon Power Shot s1 IS. I should have a few pics loaded on my Flickr account today and at my Facebook page. So sit back and watch the magic come alive again.

Back At it!

Today I started shooting again. The desire is as strong as ever and right now might be the time to get back into photography. I shoot around the Washington DC area at the Jefferson, The Korean War, and The Vietnam Mem.. I'm using my 35mm Film cam right now until I'm back up to speed. I should have a few pics loaded on here by weeks end, my other job keeps me busy. So I hope you'll stay tune and watch the magic come alive.

People's Fair, finally done!

After two weeks of work, former girlfriends, and being sick twice, I mailed off my images from the people's fair today. Now I can rest a little and do what I do best, shoot nothing of major interest. Okay, we'll see...

Hey Forks,
Last week I took time after a doctor's appointment, I walked around an area of Denver and tried out my macro feature on my E-510. I did over 50 images and many turned out great. It was between 9am and 10:30 am so the sun was a factor. Still this worked well for my first series of shots as I was able to shade one flower just enough to get a half shot all most down the center. My shots can be seen on flickr.com. The one posted here shows what I did.

Big weekend coming! I'm shooting at the CHUN People's Fair on June 6th at Civic Center Park in Denver. I'm one of many official photographers for the event thru Denver Darkroom, one of Denver's Top photography Schools. I'm very excited to have been chosen as one of the photographers. Also, I'll get to display some of my work at the event.

Editing time

So today, I finally took a look at my photos I shoot at the club two weeks ago. They turned out pretty well. So I'll edit them tonight, since I have nothing else to do and the one ones I took at the National Day of Prayer event in Denver.

I only have a few let since I was able to shot then edit some on my laptop and unload them to a news story about today to NowPublic.com news service. Later I'll add them to my flickr site. Trying to keep my photo site mainly for business. Maybe I'll setup a news photo site that showcases the ones that are used for stories????
Something to think about.

Anyway, I started to use lightroom and it's features and it just was not working out. I just don't understand what I did wrong. I'll figure it out later.

Shoots this week...
Cinco de Mayo festival at Civic Center Park in Denver. Missed last year because of a fight and the passing of a friends dad. I'll hit the evening events since I have to work in the morning and later afternoon.

Some Time Off!

Need to get my head around shooting again. This new schedule at work does not leave me much time for rest, let alone edit. I have to wait till my days off to edit photos and currently without internet 24/7, I can't spend hours uploading. It takes a day to edit and another day to upload. and that's if I'm not tired from work all week.

So starting tomorrow, I'm working six days next week. Not really what I wanted, but hey, it's is my current main source of money, every extra hour helps out. I know that by next Thursday, I'll be dead tired and looking to sleep and rest more then shooting and editing, but hey, if I'm going to do this photography thing, I better suck it up, right?

So for the next 30 days, I'm test driving photoshop's lightroom. Been reading up on it in Photoshop User. Seems easy enough and looks and sounds like it would make my life easier. Currently I'm doing it all by way of Adobe bridge. Light room would make my life a little less rushed.

Denver Auto Show

Hey its me again, been working on the shots from the 47 annual Denver St. Patrick's Day Parade. When you shoot over 300 shots, it takes a little time to review and edit. I have about 50 done with maybe another 30 - 40 to "touch up" whats left.

Aside from that, I'll be at the Denver International Auto show this weekend! So if you're not going to attend, stop by my flickr site or my smugmug site to see what you missed!

Am Back!

WOW, it's been months since I've been here. A lot has happened since my last post. I've moved back to the Denver metro area. Got a new Camera, new laptop. Also changed my business name and put together a web site. Come check it out at http://thomasjackson.smugmug.com.

Okay so up coming will be a list of events I'll be shooting at. Two weekends ago, I was at the Denver;s St. Patrick's Day Parade. Photos can be seen at my new site as well as at my flickr site. Also, new entries of my pop series Hard Kanvas are at both. I got really lucky with one shoot I call "Beauty". I shot it with my 35mm film Rebel and did not realize the angle and lighting would have on the shot. If you look to the truck on the left side of the pic, it looks like the artist painted it. Like I said, Luck.

The High School football season is coming to an end and so is my photo series following the Highland Huskies of Ault, Colorado. Most of my photos can be seen at my flickr site. Last night was senior night. I hit a doublheader as the C-team played at 4 pm and the V-team played at 7pm. it was cold, but exciting. Here is a past photo from an game two weeks ago.

Good day and welcome to DPI blog of everything that is and will be about the photography of Thomas Jackson. The ideal behind Dark Panther Images(DPI), is a business face for my photography. I wanted something to stand out and be noticed.

This will be the place where you can find out about upcoming projects, shootings and any exhibits.

For example, this weekend I'm shooting at the Highland Huskies football games.

Last week, I was informed that my shoot from the Western Stock show of a barrel racer (above)was selected for inclusion in the Schmap Denver Guide.
